Luke 1:38 Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. —Luke 1:38
At this particular point in the story and narrative of Christ, Mary is just finding out that she is pregnant, though she is still a virgin; in her confusion, an angel of the Lord Gabriel explains to her the situation, of how a God-begotten child will be in her womb and will be conceived by her. Her fear transitions to pure obedience.
Though we will never have the honor, as Mary did, to give birth to the Savior of the world, we will have moments, like she did, where the Lords steps into our hearts and calls us to action. Thus, we have to be like Mary – ready, no matter, to do what God has asked, what God has planned.
Praise: For the birth of Christ and for the woman who carried the child Jesus in womb, despite the preconceived notions of her pregnancy.
Prayer: That we too act with such obedience and willingness to do God’s plans.
Prayer for Today: Dear Lord, we thank You for this day, this life, the new beginnings that You give us, thanks to the birth of Your Son, and the calling for eternal life, through salvation, that He brought to each of us. Mary, during that time, became an integral part of His coming – let us equally be used as vessels, as just the right people at the right time to reveal God’s Glory. In Jesus Name, Amen
