Leave All Worrying to Christ

7 “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” —1 Peter 5:7
Letting go is not easy to do, especially when emotions are involved. As humans, we tend to carry around a substantial amount of heavy baggage, and eventually that wears us down physically, mentally, and spiritually. There is a way to let go: cast your worries on Jesus Christ.
The verse above in 1 Peter is encouraging to all of us worriers out there; God is inviting us to talk to Him about everything, including our anxieties, fears, cares and concerns. He created us and sent His Son to live on earth with us, so He knows us very well. We are easily boggled down and discouraged. God knows we need Him and He is welcoming us to unload all of those anxieties onto Him. It’s up to us to take Him up on the offer and talk to Him just like any other friend.
Isaiah 58:11 says “The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.”
Allow Him to come into your life, to take on your worries. We are not capable of controlling all of the crises that life throws at us, which is why it’s so amazing that through His Word, God is calling on us to cast our anxieties away. He knows your every need and how to care for you.
We can be reassured, then, that He will see us through.
Isaiah 43:2-3 tells us that He can handle it. 2 “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. 3 For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.”
Praise: That the Lord invites us to cast our anxieties onto Him; that He puts out the fires and calms the waters for us because of His love.
Prayer: Dear Lord, may we always be willing to open our hearts to You, to share everything with You, and then trust You to restore us in Your perfect time.
Prayer for Today: Lord, we thank You for Your inspired Word. Whether we are walking in shadows or in the broad daylight, may we all look to You for guidance and speak to You about our worries without hesitation. Lord, giving you all of our anxieties may be a challenge at times since we are prone to fret and moan over the what-ifs and whys. May You open our hearts and soften them, so we will start to try Your way instead of our own, which has failed us time and again. We know you will not fail us, Lord, because of Your promise. Help us to put our small trembling hands into you all-encompassing warm ones. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
